Fishing, Real Estate, & Music...Oh My!

Last Thursday, was the first event for the Fish It Live It fishing league. We have 16 two man teams this year, and the fishing was anything but great on Gull Lake. There weren't many fish caught, but a couple of teams managed to catch a couple of nice fish.

I just heard today, that mortgage rates are going to be going down again! Sounds like a great time to be investing in Real Estate to me. Actually, since I have been in the business, there has never been a better time to buy.

On June 26th, SKATYRS is playing at Norway Ridge Supper Club for H.A.R.T. For more information about this great event, click here.

Open House

Spent a nice afternoon at an open house on Pelican Lake today. Met some nice people and got caught up on some paperwork at the same time...sweet!

CROSSLAKE - Small Town USA

Crosslake is one of those places on earth, that you want to keep coming back to. Lots of reasons why, but it's mostly because of the people who live here. They're great. When one hurts we all hurt. When one laughs, we all laugh. Small town USA at it's best.

As I've said earlier in my posts, our Real Estate market for buyer's hasn't been this good since early in this decade. Right now, you can buy a home on the lake at 2003 prices. Combine that with low mortgage rates, local banks with money to lend, and it sounds like it's a great time to be buying to me!

Bracket Busted!

My bracket was just busted big time. I don't remember that ever happening to me before...at least not this early. Northern Iowa deserved to win. They out played Kansas big time. I'd be much more excited for them if I hadn't picked Kansas to win it all!

St. Pat's Parade

Last weekend was the annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Crosslake. Crosslake has been throwing this parade for over 30 years. It has grown to the biggest one day event Crosslake has all year. This year, over 15,000 people were in town watching the parade and having a great time. Not bad for a town that has 1,000 year round residents. My band SKATYRS played in the Crosslake Town Square before the parade started, and except for it being a tad bit chilly, we had a great time and the people that came to hear us had a great time too. If you didn't make it this year, try to be here next year. You will have a great time...I guarantee it!

Health Care System...A Way to Fix It

Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing the debate over health care? OMG, these people we elected like nothing better than to hear themselves talk! Here's what I think...the health care system needs to be fixed. But, is there anyone out there that actually thinks the government can fix it? If there are, you're going to have to convince me because I don't think the government can fix anything. Every time they try to do something "good", it ends up taking forever to get anything done, and it costs more. How about this...pick 12 random people (just like a jury) from each state and have them come to a centrally located Holiday Inn. Give each of them a copy of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. Put them in a room together, and have them figure out a way to fix the health care system using those aforementioned documents as a guide. Give each of them free health care for life for their time and trouble if they get it done in a month, and I'll bet they come up with something that will work. After they get done with that, let's pick some other groups to fix taxes, rising energy costs, unemployment, etc. Remember...we the people...we need to be heard. We the people can fix this if the politicians get out of the way.

Olympics and Patriotism

The only thing left is the closing ceremony. The Olympics are great to watch, and I'm always a little sad when they're over. This time they started with a tragedy, and my prayers go out to the young man's family. I'm sure he's missed, but I'm also sure he would have enjoyed these Olympics. Our neighbors to the north did a great job of hosting, NBC did OK, and our United States athletes did us proud. Our national anthem was played more than any other, and every time I hear that song, it feels great to be an American. When I hear that song I think about all of our men and women who have, and are still, giving their lives to defend our freedoms. Sport's heroes are many, but the true heroes of our country are those men and women who put it on the line everyday. Talk about sudden death overtime. These folks play that game every day, and I can only imagine the pressure they are under. Our job is to support them in their efforts, and when we have the chance, thank them for serving. I love the USA.

Jogging Shorts at 35 Degrees

We Minnesotans are pretty hearty. Only we could think 35 degrees feels like a heat wave. On my way to Pequot from Crosslake this afternoon, I saw a woman jogging in shorts! Now that is a sure sign that summer is just around the corner!

Winter Olympics

I've been watching a lot of the Olympics, and every two years, I'm amazed at what world class athletes these people are. Tonight before the Olympics started, they had a story about the skis they use. Each athlete has about 40 sets of skis, and they're so sharp and waxed, that a person that skis for fun wouldn't even be able to stand up on them, let alone go down a hill. I can't stand up on snowshoes, so I guess I'll have to hang up my dream about being a gold medal winner in the downhill. I could probably out sing them and sell more Real Estate then they could though!

Land of Sky Blue Waters

If you like a nice winter day, it doesn't get much better than this. The sky is so blue it looks like you should be able to see your reflection when you look up. No wonder they call Minnesota the land of sky blue waters...now if we could only get rid of the ice!

Good Time to Buy!

It's a little cold here in Crosslake right now, but it was perfect weather for the Winterfest this past weekend. We have lots of snow for you snow machine enthusiasts, and plenty of ice for the fisherman. It's also a great time to be buying real estate, so give me a call. For you sellers, we do have buyers looking, so you can call me too!

R.I.P 2009-2010 Minnesota Vikings

The 2009-2010 Minnesota Vikings football team, beloved, adored, and admired by millions of fans throughout the world, passed away noisily at the NFC Championship game in New Orleans during overtime on Sunday, January 24th, 2010. A rarely seen disease in 2009, turnoveritis, aided by a late case of 12meninthehuddleitis, reared its ugly head five times, giving an inferior Saints team an edge in which the Vikings could not overcome. Survivors this season include the Saints, Steelers, Cardinals, Panthers and Bears (once). Preceding the Vikings in death this season were the Browns, Lions (twice), 49ers, Packers (twice), Rams, Ravens, Bears (once) Seahawks, Bengels, Giants, and Cowboys. Services are pending, but words of condolences and encouragement can be sent to www.vikings.com.

Geez...This Really Hurts

It's really hard to get over last nights loss. It would have been OK to lose to the Saints, but the Vikings didn't get beat...they beat themselves. The defense shut down the best offense in the NFL this season, but the guys on the Vikings offensive side of the ball, couldn't hold on to it. I never thought I'd see that happen. Not from this team, not this year, and certainly not in the NFC Championship game with Brett Favre as the QB. I have been a Vikings fan since they came into the league, and I truly believed this was our year to win it all. Four losses in the Superbowl. Five losses in the NFC Championship game. Different players...same results. It's obvious the football Gods are not with us. I know there are more important things going on in this world...wars, earthquakes, etc...and I shouldn't be so upset over a stupid game, but a win last night would have helped me get through all of that for the next two weeks. This one really stings.

Vikings Win is VERY Impressive

A Vikings win today was not surprising to me. The score was though...I thought they'd only win by 20. Anyone that doubted this team is for real should be on the band wagon by now. I firmly believe my favorite team is headed to the Superbowl this year!

Skol Vikings!

Gotta hate the Cowboys, right?!? I have ever since 1975 when Drew Pearson caught a pass while shoving Paul Krause to the ground. Pearson scored a touchdown, and the game was over. Oh, how I want revenge this Sunday! Everybody sing!

http://www.augustinecentral.com/skol_vikings.htm

Skol Vikings, let's win this game
Skol Vikings, honor your name
Go get that first down, then get a touchdown
ROCK EM...SOCK EM...FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Skol Vikings, run out the score
You'll hear us yell for more
V-I-K-I-N-G-S
Skol Vikings, let's go!!!!

Inversion and how it effects Crosslake

Kind of foggy here in Crosslake today. I heard Belinda on KARE 11 last night, explain that it's because of "inversion". We get that a lot when the snow is still on the ground and the air starts to warm up. Evaporating moisture gets trapped by the cold air, and it becomes fog. Made the trees look pretty this morning. All of the pine trees looked like they had been flocked and ready for Christmas. By the way, Crosslake Winterfest is coming up soon. Stay tuned for details.

Groomed Trails

In case you haven't heard, we have a lot of snow up here. Trails have been groomed, and people are having a great time. Crosslake has several places you can stay and eat, so come on up...the water's fine!
