Olympics and Patriotism

The only thing left is the closing ceremony. The Olympics are great to watch, and I'm always a little sad when they're over. This time they started with a tragedy, and my prayers go out to the young man's family. I'm sure he's missed, but I'm also sure he would have enjoyed these Olympics. Our neighbors to the north did a great job of hosting, NBC did OK, and our United States athletes did us proud. Our national anthem was played more than any other, and every time I hear that song, it feels great to be an American. When I hear that song I think about all of our men and women who have, and are still, giving their lives to defend our freedoms. Sport's heroes are many, but the true heroes of our country are those men and women who put it on the line everyday. Talk about sudden death overtime. These folks play that game every day, and I can only imagine the pressure they are under. Our job is to support them in their efforts, and when we have the chance, thank them for serving. I love the USA.

Long Live the USA

As we move into July, I can't help but think about our founding fathers. I am so proud to be from the good ole USA, and if it wasn't for those brave 56 men willing to put their name on a piece of paper on July 4, 1776, who knows where we might be today. I also can't help but think about all of the brave men and woman who have given their life, in order for me to be free. FREEDOM. That's a word we Americans use a lot. But what does freedom mean to you? To me, it means I can go where I want, worship how I want, write what I want, sing what I want, hunt, fish, defend my home and family, love, succeed, and even fail, knowing all along, that these freedoms are precious and fragile. Please, please, please, don't take the freedoms you have in this country for granted. There are people out there that want this country to fail...they want us, as a nation, to go away. What they don't understand, is our people's will and fortitude. They can try to hurt us all they want, but it doesn't matter. We will always remember the people that have gone before us, and we will never forget their sacrifices that have made this country the greatest place to live on the face of this earth. Because of them, we will never give up our freedoms, or bow to the radicals that want to destroy it. Will will fight until we are victorious. Always have, and always will. God Bless the USA.
